The marriage form of the Qiang people is basically monogamy. Before the liberation, young men and women had no freedom to fall in love, regarding free love as detrimental to family honor. Marriages could not be freely chosen, and feudal matrimonial trades were prevalent; the marriage affairs of children all followed the orders of parents and the words of matchmakers.
