The Role of the Cheekbone in Facial Aesthetics

(Picture 1)

The cheekbone is a bone with a conical structure, which can be divided into two parts: "the body of the zygomatic bone" and "the zygomatic arch." These two parts respectively determine two crucial visual angles that affect the beauty of the face shape. The body of the zygomatic bone is located at the outermost front part of the face. When viewed from a 45-degree angle, the curve of the body of the zygomatic bone determines the aesthetic quality of the facial lines. If the body of the zygomatic bone is too developed and the protruding curve is too large, it disrupts the aesthetics and creates an impression of a strong personality lacking softness.

The zygomatic arch extends backward from the body of the zygomatic bone and connects to the temporal bone. From the front view, the widest part of the face is at the zygomatic arch, near the area in front of the ear. Therefore, the best way to reduce the width of the face is to adjust the position of the zygomatic arch.
