" Tao Qian had five willow trees in Pengze, and Pan Yue had flowers throughout the county of Heyang. Yet neither can compare with the beauty of Yangshuo, where people live amidst the emerald lotus peaks."
The Emerald Lotus Peak —— one of the landmarks of Yangshuo County town, named for its resemblance to a budding emerald lotus. About half a kilometer to its east, at the southern end of the Yangshuo Bridge, there is a "Lotus Viewing Spot." From here, the peak looks most like a lotus emerging from water, standing tall and elegant, a bud about to bloom. There are many pavilions, cliff carvings, and stone inscriptions among the mountains, all blending harmoniously with the green hills and trees, offering much to ponder. It is renowned as the "First Peak of Yangshuo" due to its combination of scenic beauty, cultural relics, and rare attractions. Throughout history, hundreds of famous scholars and artists, from Tang Dynasty Buddhist master Jianzhen, great poet Cao Ye, and grand traveler Xu Xiake, to contemporary national leaders such as Zhou Enlai, Chen Yi, and Deng Xiaoping, have visited the park, leaving behind a wealth of exquisite poetry and calligraphy.
