" Tao Qian had five willow trees in Pengze, Pan Yue had a county of flowers in Heyang. But neither can compare with Yangshuo, where people live among the emerald lotus peaks."
The Emerald Lotus Peak - One of the landmarks of Yangshuo County, named for its resemblance to a budding emerald lotus. About half a kilometer to the east, near the south end of the Yangshuo Bridge, there is an "Lotus Viewing Spot." From here, the peak most resembles a freshly bathed, elegant, and budding lotus flower. There are many pavilions, cliff carvings, and stone inscriptions on the mountain, all blending harmoniously with the green mountains and trees, evoking much contemplation. Renowned for its scenic beauty, cultural relics, and unique attractions, it is hailed as the "First Peak of Yangshuo." Throughout history, from the Tang Dynasty Buddhist master Jianzhen, great poets like Cao Ye, and famous travelers like Xu Xiake, over a hundred distinguished scholars and artists have visited this place, leaving behind numerous exquisite poems and calligraphy works. In modern times, dozens of national leaders, including Zhou Enlai, Chen Yi, and Deng Xiaoping, have also toured the area.
