The physical body of a great monk, having endured over 230 years of vicissitudes, remains perfectly intact to this day. On January 10th, with the completion of the three-tiered hall at Yuanpu Temple in Anqing City, Anhui Province, his mysterious veil was finally unveiled.

In the twentieth year of the Qing Dynasty's Kangxi era, on the twenty-third day of the tenth lunar month (1681), a child was born into a family surnamed Duan in Dongxiang Township of Tongcheng County (now part of Zongyang County). This child grew up to become an excellent bamboo craftsman and often made a living in Wuheng Township of Yixiu District in Anqing City. However, he had a connection with Buddhism and, at the age of 49, became a monk at Yuanpu Temple in Wuheng Township, adopting the dharma name "Liaozhen." Master Liaozhen strictly adhered to the precepts and brought his own cooking utensils when working at people's homes. In his later years, he repeatedly instructed his disciples that after his passing, they should place him in a jar for two or three years before opening it for observation. If the body was damaged, they could dispose of it as they wished; if it remained intact, they should build a stupa at the cliff beside the temple for enshrinement. At the age of 96, Master Liaozhen attained enlightenment and ascended to immortality, and his disciples followed his instructions. Several years later, upon opening the jar, they discovered that his body was perfectly preserved, thus transforming him into a true body.
