I asked my fellow tour group members why they would come all the way to Iran for sightseeing. One of them answered resolutely: "Of course we need to come and admire the ancient civilization of the Persian Empire before the US goes crazy and destroys everything." Although there are undercurrents in the international situation, there's no need to be so pessimistic, is there? With its deep-rooted and sophisticated Persian culture as a foundation, and with the protective designation issued by UNESCO, Iran's cultural heritage sites are still well-preserved. To witness the traces of the superpower from 2500 years ago, there are still ways to go about it.
