In fact, these people are indigenous Papuans from Indonesia. They have long been engaged in primitive agriculture, practicing slash-and-burn farming to grow taro, legumes, sago, bananas, and sugarcane. In the mountainous areas, they supplement their livelihood with foraging and hunting, while along the coast, they mainly rely on fishing. Nowadays, some have moved to cities, mines, and farms to live on wages, but most still remain in rural areas, leading a self-sufficient life.
