In fact, these people are indigenous Papuans from Indonesia. They have long engaged in primitive agriculture, practicing slash-and-burn farming to grow taro, beans, sago, bananas, and sugarcane. In the mountainous areas, they supplement their livelihood with gathering and hunting, while along the coast, they mainly rely on fishing. Nowadays, some have moved into cities, mines, and farms to live on wages, but the majority still remain in rural areas, leading a self-sufficient life.
