Gu Dong Falls in Guilin is located 26 kilometers east of the urban area of Guilin, along the Li River downstream. It is on the Guilin - Guanyan tourist route and is a late bloomer in the development of scenic areas.
The scenic area features a multi-level serial waterfall formed by underground springs. The waterfall is 180 meters higher than the water level of the Li River and can still spout, making it the only multi-level serial waterfall in the country formed by underground springs. It is also a waterfall that gradually grows taller due to calcification deposition, changing its appearance over time. The nine levels of the waterfall each have unique shapes: some resemble mandarin ducks playing in the water, others like dragons spraying water, and some flow down moss-covered rock walls, with clear water patterns resembling white transparent fabric, akin to misty clouds. Others concentrate their flow into deep pools, splashing up layers of water mist and flowers, like a drizzle. On both sides of the waterfall, the forests are lush and shaded, creating a tranquil atmosphere. The water quality is crystal clear and refreshing, cool and sweet.
