Yangshuo Moon Hill is a strange and beautiful scene within the territory of Yangshuo. It is located beside Fenglou Village in Gaotian Town, with a height of more than 380 meters. Because there is a big hole through the top of the mountain, which looks like a bright moon hanging high in the sky, people call it Mingyue Peak or commonly known as Moon Hill. Tourists can follow an 800-step mountain path to reach the moon cave directly.

This moon cave is extraordinarily large, with a height and width of 50 meters each, while the mountain wall is only a few meters thick. The two walls inside the cave are flat like walls, while the top of the cave is covered with stalactites of various shapes. Among them, two resemble Wu Gang and Jade Rabbit from the Moon Palace. On sunny days, tourists can see blue sky and white clouds through the moon cave, just like a round mirror hanging on the top of the mountain. Since there is a small round hill on the north side of the moon cave, tourists can walk on the "moon appreciation road" on the south side of the mountain and enjoy the different views of the moon cave from different angles, such as full moon, half moon, and crescent moon.

During the Qing Dynasty, Xu Tingzheng called this scene "Moon Hanging on High Peak" and wrote a poem: "The mirror-like light floats on the peak, its clear glow never fades. A piece of the cliff collapsed long ago, leaving its reflection to illuminate for thousands of autumns. The mountain pierces the moon without waxing or waning, the moon shines on the mountain regardless of coming and going. This ancient mirror will never fade, accompanying you on a long journey to the moon palace."
