Xijie Street is located in the southwestern part of Yangshuo County, at the western foot of Bilian Peak, and is named after its location. The English name for Xijie Street is "West Street", but it is commonly referred to as "Foreigners' Street" by outsiders.
As you stroll down Xijie Street, an over 800-meter-long paved stone surface stretches from east to west. The buildings on both sides of the street are densely packed. Most of the structures are one or two stories tall, though some reach three stories; however, two-story buildings are the most common. The ratio of the building facade height to the street width on Xijie Street is approximately 1:1, which happens to be the most people-friendly spatial scale in urban street and landscape design.
