How to Predict the Weather While Traveling

Before the advent of weather forecasting, people relied on observation and folklore to predict the weather. Although we now have weather forecasts (regardless of their accuracy for the moment), sometimes when traveling, especially for hikers, you might find yourself in a remote place where there are no villages or towns nearby, and the only option is to rely on observations to make judgments about the weather. Here are a few methods for predicting weather in the wild. While they aren't foolproof, knowing them is better than not knowing at all.

1. Observe the dew on the grass at sunrise. If the grass is dry, it indicates clouds or strong winds, which could mean rain is likely; if there is dew on the grass, it is unlikely to rain that day. Of course, if it rained the previous evening, this method becomes unreliable.
