National Class 1A Tourist Attraction. Located within the Shihuadong National Geopark in Fangshan District, Beijing, about 50 kilometers from downtown Beijing. It is a natural tourist attraction that integrates spring outings, flower appreciation, fruit picking, vacationing, meetings, and entertainment. The scenic area was built in 1998, covering an area of 1.12 square kilometers, including 0.47 square kilometers of orchards and 0.53 square kilometers of scenic forest. There are the Wufeng Mountain Hotel and various recreational facilities. Major attractions include the small animal feeding and viewing garden, as well as picking areas for fresh apricots, peaches, pears, jujubes, persimmons, walnuts, and prickly ash. Entertainment activities include flight simulators, team-building exercises, and more. In early spring, mountain peach blossoms, violet ground orchids, glory-of-the-snow, gardenias, apricot flowers, peach blossoms, and pear blossoms all bloom competitively; in summer, the shady forest blocks out the sun, cool mountain breezes eliminate the heat; in autumn, red leaves resemble fire. The colorful trees and the blooming wild chrysanthemums on the mountains form the unique natural landscape of General Tuo. The scenic area holds three touring events each year: the Spring Outing Flower Appreciation Festival from March 15 to May 8; the Green Food Picking Festival from June 5 to October 10; and the Sweet Potato Digging and Red Leaf Appreciation Festival from October 10 to November 5.
