The Miyun Reservoir is the largest reservoir in Asia, known as the "Jewel of the Yanshan Mountains." It is located within Miyun County, to the northeast of Beijing, nestled among the peaks of the Yan Mountains. It spans the Chao and Bai Rivers and was constructed from September 1958 to September 1960. The total area of the reservoir is 1.88 million square kilometers, with a water surface of 137,000 acres and depths ranging from 40 to 60 meters. It is divided into three storage areas: Bai River, Chao River, and the Inner Lake. The total water storage capacity is 4.317 billion cubic meters, equivalent to 67 times the size of the Shisanling Reservoir or 150 times the size of Kunming Lake. The lakeside road stretches for 110 kilometers, and it takes over three hours to drive around the entire lake.
