In the biting cold wind, local men jump naked into the rice fields, grabbing mud and smearing it all over their bodies. According to local beliefs, the mud from the rice fields can ward off evil and bring good luck to people. More importantly, people hope to pray for a good harvest in the new year through this ceremony.
