Dogs are friends of human beings. People often think that this is a saying of western civilization. In fact, in China, dogs have been the friends of human beings. Dog raising in China has a long history.

In "Cocks' and Dogs' voices can be heard from each other, but the people live and die without interacting", Laozi proposed cocks and dogs as important elements of human life in the "Tao Te Ching"; "Dogs bark in deep lanes, roosters crow on mulberry trees." Tao Yuanming of the Jin Dynasty depicted a beautiful pastoral life with dogs in his poem "Return to the Fields"; "When a girl gets married, chickens and dogs also get to go along." Du Fu narrated this way in "The Newlywed Farewell," thus giving rise to the folk saying "marry a chicken, follow the chicken; marry a dog, follow the dog;" There are also Li Bai's "Dog barking amidst the sound of water, peach blossoms bloom thick with rain," Bai Juyi's "Village headmen make a racket, the chirping of cicadas keeps the weaver busy," and Lu You's "Dogs welcome their masters back on wild paths, magpies build stable nests on low branches" etc., where dogs have always appeared positively in poetry. Since ancient times, there could not be a life for Chinese people without dogs.
