At around 3 PM yesterday afternoon, a fire broke out in a rental property in the Nanyueling community of Hetang District in Zhuzhou City. Tang, a 14-year-old disabled girl who was home alone, unfortunately perished in the blaze.
Reporters at the scene observed that the room where the girl had met her demise had been almost completely consumed by flames and emitted a choking smell of burnt materials. Her mother cried out the girl's name in despair.
"At first, there was smoke, then it grew larger and larger." Neighbour Yi Manhua quickly called the police and together with other neighbours attempted to put out the fire using basins and buckets of water. "The fire was too big, it didn't work."
When the firefighters arrived on the scene, they managed to control the fire, but unfortunately, Tang had already lost her life. It was learned that the Tang family hailed from Shaodong County in Shaoyang, and had been working in Zhuzhou for many years. They had rented this property for six years, and the father usually made ends meet by selling glasses at a stall while the mother worked in a nearby clothing store.
Currently, the local police and fire departments have intervened to investigate the incident.
