About 9,000 men wearing only loincloths gathered at Saidaiji Temple in Okayama, western Japan, to scramble for a sacred stick in a festival that commemorates one of Japan's three oldest festivals - the Naked Festival. At the festival at Saidaiji Temple, participants try to grab a sacred stick prepared by the temple. Whoever successfully brings the sacred stick out of the yard will be declared as the "lucky man of the year".
