At around 10:30 AM yesterday, a woman in her 30s died after spitting blood on the pedestrian bridge at the Chepai BRT station in Guangzhou. According to several passers-by, they did not hear any sounds of fighting, and the woman likely died from illness.
By noon yesterday, the police had already set up warning tape in the middle of the bridge and on one side of the bridge's entrance/exit facing west-to-east on Zhongshan Avenue, and erected tents on the bridge for investigation and evidence collection.
A street vendor on the bridge said that the woman was about 30 years old, wearing a white coat and jeans. At the time, she had just come out from the BRT station, less than 5 meters away from the stairs leading down from the bridge, preparing to descend when she suddenly began vomiting. "At first, we thought she was suffering from motion sickness, but unexpectedly it was blood she was spitting. She vomited several times."
The vendor's account was confirmed by the owner of a newspaper kiosk under the bridge. She stated that at the time, she did not see any suspicious individuals passing by, nor were there any sounds of argument or signs of fighting at the scene. However, why the woman would suddenly spit blood, she was unclear. Some speculated that the deceased might have suffered from an illness, which led to the accident.
After vomiting several times, the woman fell to the ground, and passers-by called 110 (police) and 120 (emergency medical services).
The police and medical personnel arrived at the scene very quickly, but by this time the woman had already passed away.
