At noon on the 15th, a barbecue restaurant on Memorial Road in the urban area suddenly emitted a large amount of black smoke from its chimney. At 12:30 PM on the 15th, citizens walking near the Jiajiajoy Supermarket on Memorial Road suddenly smelled a strong burnt odor. Then some citizens found that the smell came from a barbecue restaurant by the roadside, and the chimney of the barbecue restaurant was emitting a large amount of black smoke at that time. Concerned citizens immediately dialed the 119 emergency number.
After receiving the alarm, the Huancui Fire Brigade quickly dispatched 3 fire trucks and dozens of firefighters to the scene for rescue. Upon arrival, the firefighters carefully checked and found that there was no open flame in the barbecue restaurant or around it emitting black smoke. The property staff of the building guessed that it might be due to the accumulated oil stains in the barbecue restaurant's chimney being ignited, which produced a large amount of black smoke.
When the reporter arrived at the scene, the black smoke in the chimney had gradually weakened, but a strong burnt smell could still be detected in the air. Later, when the black smoke disappeared from the chimney, the firefighters confirmed there was no fire hazard and then left the scene. Subsequently, the fire supervision personnel entered the barbecue restaurant to investigate the cause of the accident.
The reporter smelled that there was also a burnt smell in the air inside the store, but there were still several tables of customers enjoying their lunch. The barbecue section in the kitchen had a stronger burnt smell, with three large exhaust fans operating. The staff explained that the facilities in the kitchen were currently being redecorated and replaced, which might have caused the black smoke.
The property personnel of the building where the barbecue restaurant is located told reporters that during the same period last year, the chimney of this barbecue restaurant also experienced a similar black smoke accident. He speculated that the black smoke might be related to the oil stains accumulated in the chimney of the barbecue restaurant for a year being ignited. In response, the staff of the barbecue restaurant said that the oil stains in the chimney are difficult to clean, and they did not know what to do. Finally, the fire supervision personnel urged the barbecue restaurant to rectify the chimney emitting black smoke within a limited time.
