A retired 53-year-old female teacher, Li Jianhua from Weihai city of Shandong province, was held up by an intruder. Despite being repeatedly stabbed, she fought back with courage and wit, eventually gaining the upper hand over the assailant. Faced with the 19-year-old malefactor who had suffered a mental breakdown and collapsed on the ground, Li Jianhua dialed 120 for emergency medical help to ensure that he received timely treatment.

On the morning of March 26, after returning home to her fourth-floor apartment in Huancui district of Weihai city, Li Jianhua was followed inside by a would-be robber, Ding, who had been lying in wait in the hallway. Facing the threat of death, Li Jianhua, who has been a winter swimming enthusiast for many years and thus maintained a good physical condition, began to fight the attacker with all her might. During the struggle, Li Jianhua said to the assailant whose right hand had been cut: "As long as you don't kill me, you can take whatever you want." The assailant agreed. However, Li Jianhua could only find 100 yuan cash at home. Seeing such a small amount of money, the assailant became angry and grabbed a fruit knife from the dining table, stabbing Li Jianhua towards her chest with all his strength. Fortunately, due to the thickness of Li Jianhua's cotton clothes, the handle of the fruit knife broke.

At this point, the assailant, physically exhausted and mentally tense, collapsed on the ground, begging Li Jianhua to kill him.
