Yesterday, our newspaper reported that pre-marital property certificate name addition will be subject to deed tax. Relevant departments of the Nanjing Local Taxation Bureau confirmed to our reporter that this charge has already begun yesterday. They have notified the property deed tax collection department to collect deed tax for pre-marital property certificate name addition. The specific payment method is based on the actual ownership proportion of the person adding their name to the property title, which will be converted into a reasonable market price, and a 3% deed tax will be levied under the gift category. However, currently no deed tax is required for adding names to jointly owned properties acquired post-marriage. Nevertheless, in response to this newly implemented policy without written notice, many citizens expressed "not understanding it", with some even jokingly calling the taxation bureau as "taking advantage of the situation".
