No. 10 Xibianmen was built in the 1950s. After 60 years of wind and frost, it has become a dangerous building. In 1999, a big fire killed four people, one of whom was pregnant. Afterwards, the State Administration proposed to renovate the dangerous building. During this period, there were two dangerous house appraisals and three public opinion surveys. Each time, more than 90% of the residents supported demolition and reconstruction. There were four design plan announcements. Due to the strong opposition of Mrs. Wang Kewen in the courtyard and inciting her husband's student Zhou Ganshi (academician of two academies) to use his relationship to list No. 10 Xibianmen as an excellent modern building in Beijing, the dangerous renovation came to a sudden stop in 2009. To this day, more than a thousand residents are still living on the brink of life and death. What makes people feel even colder is that the State Administration, seeing no hope for renovation, arbitrarily used the funds for the 2008 Olympic Games project to repair the doors, windows and roads of the dangerous buildings without repair value. The walls and structures were not considered for repair. The 25 million yuan repair project was completed hastily without prior notice, bidding, post-event audit and acceptance. For 12 years of dangerous reconstruction, there has been no result, only progress, demolition and reconstruction, only repair projects, no public opinion, only power! The lives of more than a thousand residents have been dragged on like this. The Chinese people drove away the Japanese in eight years and defeated the Kuomintang in four years, but we spent 12 years and failed to fight for a place that originally belonged to us.
