At 3:50 AM on the morning of November 5th, the power supply to Li Laishun's home on Malian Town Street in Qian County was cut off by someone. Not long after, sounds of fighting were heard from inside the house. A neighbor sleeping next door heard the roof tiles rattling and quickly got up to check, but found no abnormalities. Not long after, Kang Qin's father and brother (Kang Qin being Li Laishun's daughter-in-law) came knocking on the door, saying that something might have happened at their in-laws' house, then jumped over the courtyard wall into Li Laishun's home.
Upon entering Li Laishun's home, Kang Qin's father and brother were stunned by what they saw. Blood covered the entire house. Their in-laws, Li Laishun, his wife Zhou Hualin, and their son-in-law Li Nan were already dead. Their daughter lay in a pool of blood with severe injuries, and their one-year-old granddaughter had also been slashed.
At 3:50 AM on November 5th, 2010, a murder case occurred on Malian Town Street in Qian County. Five people in a family were hacked, resulting in three deaths, one who later died due to ineffective rescue efforts, and another who is still under treatment. Villagers said that the cause of the incident was robbery-related murder.
After the incident, the provincial, municipal, and county level party committees, governments, and public security organs paid great attention. Zhao Runmin, standing committee member of the Xianyang Municipal Committee and vice mayor, made comments requiring the public security organs to fully investigate the case. The Qian County police received the alarm at 4:30 AM. After receiving the alarm, Director Liu Peng of the Qian County Public Security Bureau led police officers to the scene while reporting the situation to the relevant leaders of the Xianyang Municipal Public Security Bureau. Upon arrival at the scene, an investigation leadership group was immediately established with Xing Junqiang as the team leader, and Zhang Xinkuan, Han Xin Feng, and Liu Peng serving as deputy team leaders. A command post was set up within 100 meters of the crime scene. Under Xing Junqiang's command, more than 200 police forces were divided into several groups for on-site investigation, surrounding area inquiries, logistics support, and other tasks, comprehensively conducting investigative work. Xing Junqiang said that the police would mobilize the best forces, fully deploy reconnaissance, and vowed to solve this case, giving the public an answer in the shortest time possible.
