It is generally believed that about 5 million earthquakes occur globally each year, averaging over 10,000 per day; however, the vast majority of them go unnoticed by people.
From the table above, we can see that there is no discernible pattern in the number of major earthquakes each year. However, roughly speaking, 2007 could be considered one of the more seismically active years during the period in question. The number of earthquakes since 2010 has not shown any abnormality in terms of quantity; even minor differences in numbers are merely due to the randomness of earthquakes.
