Hechi, March 28th, China News -- (Yang Zhi Xiong, Peng Guo Feng) The city of Hechi, located in the northwestern border region of Guangxi, has been suffering from a historically rare and severe drought since August 2009. More than 2.6 million people in areas under its jurisdiction, including Jinchengjiang, Bama, Donglan, Fengshan districts and counties, have been affected. Currently, Guangxi's road construction forces are making every effort to drill wells and find water sources in Hechi, an old revolutionary base area, to combat the severe drought. Local officials, residents, and all sectors of society are also actively participating in drought relief efforts, striving to minimize the losses to the greatest extent possible.
