9 Miners Rescued After Being Trapped for 180 Hours in Wangjialing Mine Disaster (Photos)

China News Service, Wangjialing, April 5th (Reporters Zhang Leijie and Zhang Yun) - At dawn today, the first batch of nine survivors from the rescue operation at the Wangjialing Coal Mine in Shanxi Province were successfully brought to the surface and rushed to the hospital for emergency treatment following the March 28 water inrush accident.

At around 10:30 PM on April 4th, the first batch of 10 rescue teams, comprising over a hundred people, descended into the mine in shifts to carry out search and rescue operations. Around 12:30 AM today, news came from underground that nine survivors had been found. Subsequently, these nine survivors were successfully brought to the surface and immediately transferred to five designated primary care hospitals in Hejin City, Yuncheng, Shanxi, near the Wangjialing Coal Mine, for treatment.
