"Thank you for saving Ding Ya's young life. On behalf of the Tongren Municipal People's Government of Guizhou Province and the city's 380,000 people, I would like to express my heartfelt gratitude and highest respect!" Ding Ya, 22, is a student at the Vocational and Technical College of Tongren City, Guizhou Province, a beautiful and quiet sunny girl. In May 2009, she suddenly felt weak all over, vomited, and had difficulty walking. She was diagnosed by the local hospital as having chronic renal failure (uremic stage), accompanied by hypertension, heart failure and other diseases. Her father collapsed on the spot when he received the diagnosis report. The doctor gave two treatment options: one was long-term dialysis, costing between 5,000 and 6,000 yuan per month; the second was a kidney transplant, conservatively estimated to cost between 200,000 and 300,000 yuan. Tears streamed down the eyes of this strong father.

Ding Ya lives in a rural area and has a younger brother in junior high school. Her father is laid off and has no fixed income, supporting the family by doing odd jobs. Despite her family's financial difficulties, Ding Ya is academically excellent and was admitted to the Vocational and Technical College of Tongren City with excellent results in 2008.

At 22, Ding Ya should be in the bloom of youth, but it seemed that death was just around the corner for her. Her father took her everywhere seeking medical help, selling their only house and all valuables. Due to her family's poverty, Ding Ya had repeatedly thought of giving up treatment. The huge medical expenses left Ding Ya's family in dire straits.

Ding Ya's misfortune quickly spread through the Vocational and Technical College of Tongren City, and a love aid campaign began.
