A boss who once engaged in underground tallow production in Wuhan revealed shocking inside information: the underground tallow workshops were all very dirty, and the oil produced was sold to people through the market for use as hot pot base and beef noodle soup.

According to the clues, undercover investigations were carried out at many underground tallow workshops in Wuhan. It was found that the raw materials used were mostly waste products from slaughterhouses, some of which were dead cows and spoiled meat acquired from others, and some even added a large amount of waste oil like lime. The refining process took place in places with extremely unsanitary conditions. Then the oil was poured into basins to form white oil blocks, and then packed into red or black plastic bags.

From time to time, people came on motorcycles to purchase goods. Some took advantage of the night to ship goods in batches using minivans. Local residents also knew that this oil was used as hot pot base. However, the people in the black workshops only admitted that part of the oil was for edible use.

Undercover investigators, according to informants' tips, indeed saw oil with the same packaging in the Wuhan market; the stall owner also said that the oil was used for hot pot base or making noodles. The price per pound was only 3 yuan and 50 fen. In contrast, the price of genuine beef tallow per pound was around 9 yuan.

Why are there no authorities regulating these underground oil refineries that have been harming people's health around Wuhan for a long time?
