Mao Xinyu, grandson of Mao Zedong and member of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), said in a press interview that one of his proposals for this year's sessions of the National People's Congress (NPC) and CPPCC would be to apply Mao Zedong Thought to future informatized wars.

This year marks the third time for Mao Xinyu, the only legitimate grandson of Mao Zedong and deputy director of the Department of War Theory and Strategic Studies under the People’s Liberation Army Military Academy of Sciences, to attend the NPC and CPPCC sessions after he was elected as a national committee member of the CPPCC at the beginning of 2008. He said, "I did not focus on military issues in my previous proposals over the past two years. This year is different. One of my important proposals is to use Mao Zedong's military thought to guide our future informatized war."
