At the 20th anniversary commemoration meeting of the Jiangsu Province Elder Promotion Association held not long ago, the Changzhou Old District Development Promotion Association was appraised as an advanced collective. There were only three collectives in the province that received this title.
Since its establishment in 1989, the Municipal Elder Promotion Association has always prioritized promoting economic development in the Maoshan old district and increasing farmers' income. In response to issues such as remote location, transportation blockage, difficulty in accessing drinking water and electricity, and weak economic foundation in the old district, the association has selected work contact points including Xingdou Village Group in Fenjie Village, Shangxing Town, Liyang City; Shuixi Village, Shanzhu Town, Zhuzhe Town, Dashankou Village in Taocun Village, Jintan City; Huangjin Village in Zhulin Town, and Caijia Village in Jianchang Town. Through support within their capabilities and bridge-building assistance, they have successively helped rural areas in the old district build roads and dams, connect to tap water, electricity, and cable TV, develop collective economy, achieving good results and receiving widespread praise from the people in the old district.
