On February 9, 2009, a particularly serious fire accident occurred at the construction site of the new CCTV station due to illegal fireworks set off by an entity. One year later, many vehicles passing by the scene still slowed down to take a look at the burnt building.
Recently, a special correspondent of this newspaper entered the building and recorded the ravaged building with his camera.
[Scene Witness]
Standing on the 30th floor platform, one can hear the sound of steel structural components melting in the fire and colliding with each other. There are multiple deformations and collapses in the steel frame of the top of the platform. Following the smoke-blackened stairs, the reporter came to the 29th and 28th floors, which were equipment floors and not seriously affected by the fire. The 27th floor air restaurant was heavily damaged by the fire. The fire swept through the hall, and the east, west, and south glass exterior walls were melted by the fire. The fire destroyed all internal decoration. Due to the complete destruction of the ceiling decoration, the ventilation ducts are fully exposed, and many burned wires hang down from the roof. There are "demolition" words written on many main structure load-bearing walls and columns. In the kitchen and equipment room in the middle of the floor, there are no traces of fire, and the kitchen equipment is well preserved.
