Recently, Gao Zhengyan, a university graduate "village official" in Guangling County of our province, was commended by the Women's Affairs Committee of China Old Revolutionary Base Areas Promotion Association. She is the only university graduate "village official" among the 508 advanced individuals and collectives honored this time. The commendation mainly targets outstanding women organizations and advanced individuals who have contributed to the economic and social development of the old revolutionary base areas across the country, as well as enthusiastic people from all walks of life who care about and support the work for women in the old revolutionary base areas. Gao Zhengyan serves as the Secretary of the Party Branch and Director of the Village Committee of Mashan Village in Jiaoshan Township of Guangling County. She was awarded the title of "National Model of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Women in Old Revolutionary Base Areas" and attended as a representative the National Experience Exchange and Commendation Conference for Women in Old Revolutionary Base Areas held at the Great Hall of the People.
Gao Zhengyan was recruited as a university graduate village cadre in Guangling County in 2007. In 2008, she was appointed as the Secretary of the Party Branch of Mashan Village in Jiaoshan Township and was successfully elected as the Director of the Village Committee in the eighth Villagers' Committee换届election. After taking office, she actively sought funds and projects, leading the villagers to build roads, bridges, and wells. She established a 918-mu bitter buckwheat base, a 420-mu edible apricot base, a 50-mu potato base, and a free-range chicken farm with more than 2,000 chickens, and planted more than 3,000 ornamental trees. Under her leadership, the villagers' income continued to increase, and their production and living standards significantly improved.
This commendation activity adopted a method of step-by-step recommendation from bottom to top, layer-by-layer screening, review and reporting by county-level or above old revolutionary base areas promotion associations, and final determination by the evaluation committee. A total of 508 advanced individuals and collectives from 13 ethnic groups in 19 provinces, autonomous regions, and municipalities directly under the Central Government received honorary titles such as "Red Flag Collective in Love for Old Revolutionary Base Areas", "National Outstanding Worker for Women in Old Revolutionary Base Areas", "National Model of Innovation and Entrepreneurship for Women in Old Revolutionary Base Areas", "Award for Opening Up Support for Women's Work in Old Revolutionary Base Areas", and "Special Award for Friends of Women in Old Revolutionary Base Areas".
