School's Large Screen Plays "Pornographic" Movie
Yesterday, the reporter rushed to Guiyang No. 16 Middle School near the Memorial Tower. On the playground, students were doing activities, and the electronic large screen was located in a prominent position on the second floor of the teachers' office building. Directly opposite the large screen is the five-story "First Teaching Building," and on its side is another teaching building. Most of the school's students are concentrated in these two buildings and can clearly see this electronic large screen.
On the playground, the reporter asked several students who were playing basketball about what happened on October 27th. This group of students looked at the reporter hesitantly before one of them finally revealed that they were second-year junior high school students taking classes in the "First Teaching Building." He happened to be sitting by the window facing the playground. At around 8 a.m. that day, while the teacher was giving a lesson, he suddenly looked up and saw the electronic large screen playing TV, and it was even a 'pornographic' movie! This greatly shocked him. Later, all the students sitting near the window saw it. Immediately after, almost none of the students listened to the teacher’s lecture, instead secretly turning their heads or standing up to see the "truth." The students told the reporter that the "playtime lasted more than 20 minutes."
The reporter went up to the third floor of the other teaching building, where students in the corridor told him that on that day, they also saw the large screen play some vulgar and obscene images, which were unpleasant to watch. During the interview process, the reporter learned that many students had watched the "pornographic" movie that day.
A teacher at the school, who wished to remain anonymous, told the reporter that while he was teaching, he noticed that the students were not paying attention to the class and were whispering about something, with some even laughing quietly. After his inquiry, the students finally told him the "truth," at which point he realized that the large screen was playing a "pornographic" movie.
School Authorities: Caused by a Teacher
Subsequently, the reporter prepared to verify the matter with the school authorities. However, since the school leaders were not present, the teachers all kept silent. Director Ma of the school office told the reporter that this incident was caused by a teacher surnamed Liu from the school, and the school had already dealt with the teacher.
Teacher Xie from the school's ideological education department told the reporter that the school's electronic large screen is used to issue notices and announcements for the convenience of teachers and students. Previously, no videos or TV programs had ever been played. "There was a dedicated person in charge," said Teacher Xie, but due to various reasons and technical issues, no one has been assigned to manage it since the beginning of the year. "The large screen is connected to a computer, and whatever is displayed on the computer will also be shown on the large screen," explained Teacher Xie. They only found out about the incident after receiving a report from a teacher, and subsequently, the school immediately turned off the computer. Another teacher told the reporter that because it was raining that day, few people paid attention to the large screen, and without sound, this led to the video being played for a longer period.
Director Ma of the school office said that according to his understanding, this incident was caused by a teacher surnamed Liu who was teaching an art class. That day, the teacher was watching a "pornographic" movie on the computer but did not realize that this computer was connected to the large screen, causing the images to appear on the large screen. After the incident occurred, the school leadership investigated the involved teacher and made a decision later that afternoon. Regarding the outcome of the handling, Director Ma said he still did not know.
