World's Tallest Christmas Cake

A hotel in southern India claims to have made the world's tallest Christmas cake. This "giant" cake stands at over 8.8 meters high and weighs a total of 2.5 tons. Raja Gopal Yell, the manager of Uday Samudra Hotel, said: "We made a Christmas cake that is 29.1 feet (equivalent to 8.87 meters) tall, and it can be cut into 22,000 slices." Yell stated that the new cake broke the record of a 27.6-foot (approximately 8.41-meter) tall Christmas cake previously created by the Grand Melia Hotel in Bangkok, Thailand, and has been submitted for inclusion in the Guinness World Records.

Yell mentioned that 10 chefs worked 8 hours a day for three weeks to complete the cake. A total of 200 kilograms of flour, 120 kilograms of sugar, 69 kilograms of fruit, 1.5 tons of eggs, 10 bottles of rum, and 10 bottles of brandy were used.

On Christmas Day, December 25th, the hotel cut the cake and donated all of it to charitable organizations.

Just a few months ago, Uday Samudra Hotel also set the record for making the world's tallest sandwich.
