Guanyin Lotus, also known as Longsheng Grass, Guanyin Seat Lotus, and Buddha Seat Lotus, is a small succulent plant mainly appreciated for its leaves. It has been one of the most popular succulents in recent years. Its elegant plant shape resembles a blooming lotus flower. The leaf colors are rich and varied, with the purplish-red leaf tips being particularly distinctive. This plant is suitable for medium and small potted plants or combination planters. The ornamental effect varies greatly depending on the shape of the pot used. When planted in cartoon-shaped pots, it appears lively and cute, making it very popular among children. When planted in purple clay pots or blue-and-white porcelain pots, it looks dignified and generous, much favored by middle-aged and elderly people. When planted in wooden small pots, it looks fashionable and natural, which appeals greatly to young people. Guanyin Lotus belongs to the Echeveria genus of the Crassulaceae family, and it is a perennial succulent plant with rosette-like leaves. There are many varieties, with rosette diameters ranging from 3 cm to 15 cm. The fleshy leaves are spoon-shaped, with pointed tips. The leaf colors vary according to the species, including gray-green, deep green, yellow-green, and reddish-brown. The tips of the leaves can be green, red, or purple. Currently, the variety with purple-tipped leaves is quite popular in the market. The edges of the leaves have fine serrations. Well-developed plants will produce smaller rosettes below the larger ones. Additionally, every late spring, a red stolon similar to that of spider plants sprouts from the lower part of the leaf cluster, with rosette-shaped small leaf clusters growing at the front end of the stolon. The small flowers of the Longsheng Grass are star-shaped and pink.
