General Xiao Ke's epic novel *Bloodbath at Mount Luoxiao* is a rare flower and a significant achievement in the military literature of both China and the world. According to the author's own account, he was inspired to write it after reading Serafimovich's famous work *The Iron Stream* shortly before the outbreak of the War of Resistance Against Japan. He gradually developed his ideas into a full-length novel. The story is based on the Luoxiao Column (its prototype being the 8th Red Army, which was just reorganized in June 1933...).
