According to the national earthquake network, at 19:19 on July 9 Beijing time, a 6.0 magnitude earthquake occurred in Yao'an County, Chuxiong Yi Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan Province (25.6 degrees north latitude, 101.1 degrees east longitude). The focal depth was about 10 kilometers.

Reporters learned from the Yao'an County earthquake relief command that by 01:33 on July 10 statistics show: one person died in the disaster (a resident of Dongchuan Town, who died after ineffective rescue at the county hospital); 328 people were injured, including 29 seriously injured and 299 lightly injured. 10796 houses collapsed, 45520 houses were damaged, and 5360 large livestock died. A total of 33776 people in the whole county need to be resettled, requiring 4500 tents, 1000 bundles of color strip cloth, 30000 sets of cold-resistant clothing, and 15000 beds.

According to CCTV reporters on the front line, after the 6.0 magnitude earthquake in Yao'an, Yunnan, more than 300 soldiers from the Chengdu Military Region arrived at the earthquake relief command set up in Yao'an County at 2:00 am on the 10th. At 3:00 am, the troops began to advance towards the heavily affected areas of this earthquake.

The reporters saw along the way that some houses had collapsed and villagers were resting by the roadside. Power supply, communication in some rural areas were interrupted, and roads were destroyed. This brought serious inconvenience to the advancement and rescue of the troops.

Currently, the troops have reached their designated positions and have been put into earthquake relief work. (China News Service)
