Xinhua News Agency reported that the Flood Control and Drought Relief Headquarters of Liuzhou City in Guangxi Province announced that at 2:00 am on the morning of July 5th, the hydrological station in the city of Liuzhou recorded the highest water level reached in recent days. The peak flood level was measured at 89.64 meters above sea level, which is 7.14 meters higher than the warning level. It is the third largest flood since records began. Subsequently, the water level steadily decreased. By 9:00 am, the water level had dropped to 89.15 meters. As a result, this once-in-20-years flood peak successfully passed through Liuzhou.
Since July 1st, most parts of Liuzhou have been hit by heavy rainstorms, with some areas suffering from extremely heavy downpours. Affected by these rainstorms, the water levels of all tributaries of the Liu River continued to rise, causing the water level of the Liu River to surge beginning on July 2nd. At around 18:30 on July 3rd, the water level in the urban section of the Liu River exceeded the warning level of 82.5 meters for the first time this year. In response, the city of Liuzhou activated the Level IV emergency plan for natural disaster relief. The Level III response was initiated at 11:00 am on July 4th. Additionally, at 9:00 am on July 4th, the Level II response for the city's flood control emergency plan was also initiated, comprehensively launching work for flood prevention, anti-flooding, and disaster relief efforts.
