Since the first "China 500 Most Valuable Brands" report was released in 2004, Chinese enterprises' and entrepreneurs' brand awareness has increased year by year in these six years. In the past, only the manufacturers realized the value of the brand. Now, media, finance, retail and even construction industries are strengthening their brand building. The highest value of the selected brands rose from 61.237 billion yuan in 2004 to 125.086 billion yuan in 2009; the lowest value of the selected brands has risen from 500 million yuan in 2004 to 8.01 billion yuan in 2009. The number of brands with a value over 10 billion yuan rose from 45 in 2004 to 67 in 2009.
