At around 1 o'clock in the morning on June 14th, a fire broke out at a shop on the first floor of Xidan Shopping Mall in Xicheng District, Beijing. The fierce fire quickly spread horizontally and burned all the shops on the west side of the first floor from north to south. 260 firefighters were involved in the rescue work and put out the fire after one hour of efforts. The fire covered an area of 110 square meters and was suspected to be caused by electrical appliances. Fortunately, no casualties were reported. The whole Hua Wei Building where the shopping mall located stopped business for one day and when it would resume business was still uncertain.
