On August 14, the "Film Promotion Event to Celebrate the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of New China - First Batch of Key Domestic Films" held at the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC) Great Hall kicked off the promotional campaign for National Day tribute films. The event was jointly organized by the Department of Culture and Arts of the Publicity Department of the CPC Central Committee and the Film Bureau of the State Administration of Radio, Film, and Television, and hosted by Huaxia Film Distribution Company, China Film Group Corporation, and China Film Channel Program Center.
Ten Key Films in Tribute to the 60th Anniversary of the Founding of New China
These ten films launched simultaneously are outstanding representatives of mainstream films recently completed, showcasing on screen the great process of founding New China as well as the brilliant achievements of reform and development over the 60 years since the founding of New China. They specifically include: "The Iron Man," which portrays the image of petroleum workers represented by Wang Jinxi; "Nanjing! Nanjing!" which depicts the indomitable resistance of Chinese people in the face of brutality; "The Great River," which shows the common construction of Xinjiang by all ethnic groups; "College Entrance Examination 1977," which highlights how the restoration of the college entrance examination changed the fate of a generation; "Battle of Sichuan-Tibet," which recreates the history of "Liberating Southwest China"; "Marching Through Ice and Snow," which reflects the Chinese people's fight against snow and ice disasters; "People First," a documentary commemorating the first anniversary of the Wenchuan earthquake; and biographical films such as "Deng Jiaxian," "Yuan Longping," and "Pan Zuoliang."
