The key issue in the prosecution for intentional injury was the pursuit and beating of Lin Songling while he was on the ground. At the beginning of the trial, both defendants tried to shirk their own responsibilities and accused each other of hitting Lin Songling.

Liu Liman, a former officer at the Harbin Railway Public Security Bureau Command Center, said that when he saw Lin Songling trying to run away, Liu thought "we couldn't let him escape after he had beaten someone," so he rushed out first to chase Lin and was the first to fight with Lin who had fallen to the ground. During the fight, Liu felt that Lin suddenly lost his strength, but did not realize that something was wrong with him.
"Qi Xin, who came over with me, stood near Lin's head and kicked Lin three or four times. Later, when Kuan Yao pulled me up, Qi Xin kicked Lin again." Liu Liman said.
