On January 7, the long-awaited 3G licenses in the telecommunications industry were officially issued. As expected by outside observers, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology issued three 3G licenses for TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, and CDMA2000 to China Mobile, China Unicom, and China Telecom respectively, marking the full entry of China's mobile communications industry into the 3G era.

Wang Li, the executive vice president of Yulong Coolpad, stated in an interview with reporters that after the issuance of the 3G licenses, the investment by operators over the next two to three years will reach several trillion yuan, becoming an engine for stimulating economic growth amidst the financial crisis. The chaotic terminal market landscape in the domestic market is expected to be comprehensively optimized and adjusted through the 3G industry, with resources concentrating in advantageous enterprises. Meanwhile, data services related to 3G will replace basic voice services as the main growth point in the mobile operation service market.
