After the "Smiling Assassin" ended his career as one of the greatest point guards in history, things haven't really gone well for him. As a commentator, he was criticized by Bill Walton for his poor diction. He acquired the CBA team, but it went bankrupt. As a general manager, he was unceremoniously driven out of Toronto. Unlike Larry Bird's perfectionistic arrogance, he still managed to shamelessly try his hand at being the head coach for the Pacers. Then, there was his disastrous tenure as the Knicks' general manager and then head coach. His only redeeming quality was his relatively good eye for talent selection. And then, he set his sights on this Chinese kid.
