Recently, a tourism exploration team from Lichuan City, Hubei Province discovered a mysterious cave in Baiyang Town whose entrance was sealed by a huge stone. According to the "Lichuan County Annals", 3000 members of the White Lotus Sect were "buried alive" in this cave. Locals refer to it as the "Three Thousand Cave". In order to uncover the secrets within, reports from local sources yesterday claimed that CCTV will collaborate with the Lichuan Tourism Exploration Association of Hubei Province to enter and investigate the cave.
Baiyang Town borders Fengjie County in Chongqing. Villagers informed reporters that Zhonggu Village in Baiyang Town originally belonged to Fengjie County in Sichuan Province but was transferred to Baiyang District of Lichuan County in Hubei Province in 1952, and now belongs to Baiyang Town of Lichuan City.
The Three Thousand Cave is located under the cliff of a large mountain. It's said that the cave blocked by the huge stone is indeed the Three Thousand Cave. The boulder blocking the cave entrance weighs several dozen tons. Legends say that inside the cave, 3000 members of the White Lotus Sect were buried alive, hence locals call it the Three Thousand Cave. It's rumored that years ago, villagers fished out human bones, hair, and copper coins from the cracks at the cave entrance using bamboo poles.
