Vitiligo is a type of skin pigmentation disease with unknown cause, and its current treatment methods are not ideal. It is considered as a chronic and refractory skin disease. In traditional Chinese medicine (TCM), "vitiligo" is mainly divided into five types: liver and kidney deficiency, liver depression and qi stagnation, disharmony of qi and blood, damp-heat in the middle burner, and meridian blockage. The author believes that for a specific patient, one of the five types must be dominant, but sometimes they may overlap and be interrelated. When applying differential diagnosis and treatment, it is necessary to distinguish the primary from the secondary and adopt a comprehensive approach for regulation and treatment.
