Colposcopy is a kind of microscope which enlarges the cervix using the principle of light. It can enlarge the cervix 6-40 times, allowing doctors to clearly observe the changes in the cervical epithelium and blood vessels, thereby diagnosing any abnormal lesions and determining the severity of the lesion. Colposcopy can also assist in the diagnosis of pre-cancerous cervical lesions and early-stage cervical cancer.
