Folk remedies for treating macular degeneration: with the continuous progress of modern medical technology, there are currently many methods to treat macular degeneration. Use salt, monosodium glutamate, white sugar, pepper powder, chicken broth, sesame oil, wet starch in appropriate amounts to make a sauce and keep it aside. Fry the walnut kernels in warm oil until golden, add the wolfberries, and quickly remove from the heat to drain the oil. Heat the pot again, add a little lard, when the oil is five-tenths hot, add the chicken pieces and quickly stir until cooked through. Drain the oil in a colander, place the pot back on the fire, add a little ginger, scallion, and garlic slices, stir briefly, then add the chicken cubes, pour in the sauce, stir quickly, and finally add the walnut kernels and wolfberries, stirring evenly until done. This has the function of replenishing qi and blood, nourishing the liver and kidney, brightening the eyes, and strengthening the body. It can be used to treat elderly people with age-related macular degeneration due to both qi and blood deficiency, showing symptoms such as blurred vision, fatigue, coughing, and shortness of breath.

(6) Eight-treasure chicken soup: Codonopsis, Poria, fried Atractylodes, honey-fried licorice, Rehmannia, white peony, angelica, and Ligusticum. Place all eight ingredients in a gauze bag, tie the opening, and rinse with clear water first. Clean the pork, fatty hen chicken, and miscellaneous bones. Place the pork, chicken, medicinal bag, and miscellaneous bones together in a pot, add an appropriate amount of water, bring to a boil with high heat, skim off the foam, add an appropriate amount of ginger and scallions, and simmer over low heat until the chicken is thoroughly cooked. Remove the chicken and pork, let cool slightly, cut into strips or chunks, divide into bowls, and mix with the medicinal soup, adding a little salt. This can replenish qi and blood and is suitable for elderly people with age-related macular degeneration due to both qi and blood deficiency.
