How to treat bedsores? What are the nursing methods for bedsores? Bedsores (also known as pressure sores or pressure ulcers) occur due to prolonged pressure on local tissues, causing persistent ischemia, hypoxia, and malnutrition, leading to tissue necrosis and ulceration. Skin bedsores are a common issue in rehabilitation treatment and nursing care. According to relevant literature reports, approximately 60,000 people die each year from bedsores and their complications. Next, Director Zhao Jianlin from Shanxi Taiyuan Traditional Chinese Medicine Bedsore Hospital will provide a detailed introduction on the treatment and nursing of bedsores.
Treatment methods for bedsores:
1. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) therapy:
Treatment principle: Tonify qi to unblock meridians, nourish blood to moisturize skin.
Formula medicine: Astragalus 15g, Codonopsis 15g, White Peony Root 10g, Chicken Blood Vine 15g, Angelica Sinensis 10g, Ligusticum Chuanxiong 5g, Safflower 10g, Salvia Miltiorrhiza 15g, Herba Siegesbeckiae 15g, Honeysuckle 15g, Forsythia 15g, Tangerine Peel 10g. If there is rotten flesh with pus, add Angelica dahurica and Platycodon root to draw out the poison and discharge pus; if the rotten flesh does not fall off, add stir-fried pangolin scales and stir-fried soapthorn spines.
Single formula ready-made medicine: Eight Treasures Pill or Ginseng Yangrong Pill can be taken.
2. Local treatment
(1) For local redness and swelling, apply lithospermum oil or purple swelling-relief ointment.
(2) In the early stage of ulceration with shallow wounds, use detoxifying powder ointment or purple swelling-relief ointment externally.
(3) For formed wounds, apply the TCM method of transforming corruption and promoting granulation tissue formation.
Nursing for bedsores:
① When the sore has dead tissue (gangrenous flesh), inflammation continues to spread, and the boundary between necrotic tissue and healthy skin is unclear, it is advisable to mix an equal amount of purple carbuncle ointment and detoxifying powder ointment for external application.
② When the necrotic tissue (gangrenous flesh) has reached deep into the muscle or even deeper forming a sinus tract, it is advisable to dip a red blood medicine wick in purple carbuncle ointment and insert it into the wound, then cover with detoxifying powder ointment externally.
③ When the boundary between necrotic tissue and normal skin becomes clear and begins to fall off, it is advisable to mix an equal amount of purple carbuncle ointment, detoxifying powder ointment, and sweet milk ointment for external application.
④ When the necrotic tissue has fallen off and new granulation tissue starts to grow, it is advisable to mix 80g of sweet milk ointment and 20g of purple carbuncle ointment for external application.
⑤ When the new granulation tissue grows well and the edges of the wound begin to heal with epithelial growth, it is advisable to thinly sprinkle pearl powder on the wound surface, then cover with a sweet milk ointment-soaked oil gauze strip.
⑥ During medication, if eczema-like changes appear around the wound, apply dampness-removing powder mixed with licorice oil.
